How each online store platform charges

Shopify charges a flat subscription and takes nothing from sales on Shopify Payments. It's not built for online stores out of the box, but most print shops solve this by running each store as a collection inside one Shopify store so only one subscription is required. That is the default setup the toggle above compares, and it is how print shops use PrintFlo to close out each store as one consolidated, production-ready Printavo invoice.

OrderMyGear is built for team stores: rosters, close dates, and group ordering come standard. You pay a one-time license, then 3.95% of every pop-up store cart. Since that fee is based on sales, a shop selling $250,000 a year through pop-up stores pays about $9,875 in platform fees, every year. Pop-up stores host free while company stores cost an additional $119 to $199 per store per month in hosting fees. Many print shops use the PrintFlo integration to send OrderMyGear orders straight into Printavo instead of re-keying them.

Chipply is the cheapest way to start: no subscription, $1,000 to onboard, then 3.5% of products and decoration. Similar to OrderMyGear, your cost increases based on sales. So a shop selling $250,000 a year through Chipply pays about $8,750 in fees, every year. Both revenue-share platforms are inexpensive at low volume and expensive at high volume.

InkSoft flips the model: a flat $314 or $419 a month with no percentage of sales, plus the one-time cost of a license. The subscription includes a bundled designer and product catalog. However, card payments must run through InkSoft Payments, whose rate is not published.

Summary: Revenue-share platforms cost less when your store volume is small or seasonal, flat-fee platforms cost less as sales grow. Every $100,000 of sales costs $3,500 on Chipply and $3,950 on OrderMyGear, while costs stay constant with subscription pricing at $105/month on Shopify and $314/month on InkSoft.

Methodology and sources

Card processing (roughly 2.9% + $0.30 per transaction) costs about the same on all four platforms, so it is excluded from every total. Shopify Payments drops to 2.7% on Grow and 2.5% on Advanced, a small edge these totals do not count. One-time costs (licenses and onboarding) appear in the year-one total only. All figures below come from each vendor’s public pricing page.

Shopify: Annual billing lowers the plans to $29, $79, and $299 per month.

Shopify: Shopify Plus (from $2,300/month) is priced by contract and is not modeled here.

OrderMyGear: Company store programs are hosted separately at $119 to $199 per store per month with 50 orders per month included; this calculator models pop-up team stores.

OrderMyGear: A single company store can also be licensed a la carte for $499.

OrderMyGear: Longtime OMG dealers may be on older negotiated revenue-share terms that differ from the public price list.

InkSoft: The license price has ranged from $499 to $1,499 with promotions, so it is adjustable in the assumptions.

InkSoft: InkSoft Payments is required and its card rate is not published. Processing is excluded from every column here, so that does not affect the totals.

Chipply: The 3.5% fee excludes taxes and fundraising amounts, so the modeled fee slightly overstates cost for fundraising-heavy stores.

Fees change, and negotiated or promotional pricing can differ from the public list. Verify with each vendor before you decide. Shopify, OrderMyGear, InkSoft, and Chipply are trademarks of their respective owners; PrintFlo is not affiliated with any of them.
